The Leadership Spotlight Shines On: Alicia Payne

1. Where were you born and raised; current city; family hobbies; past business highlights.
I was born in South Wales, UK. I grew up in a small seaside town called Porthcawl, with my Mum, Dad and younger brother. I now live on the Surrey/Hampshire border with my husband, Tom, and two sons, Arthur (5) and Elias (2). As a family, we have many hobbies which include the outdoors and playing board games. I love sports (pretty much all of them), fine dining experiences, the theatre, travelling and family time. I’ve owned lingerie shops, worked the hospitality sector in Spain and spent seven years in the corporate world as an IT marketing manager. I’m not new to network marketing, as I also spent seven years with another company in a different industry.

2. How have you grown or personally developed since joining PlanNet?
I’ve grown so much in my confidence. I started to believe that network marketing wasn’t for me; however, when you believe in what you’re doing and you have a support system who continue to cheer you on, you have no choice but to believe that this is where you belong.

3. What drives you; what motivates you?
My family…my parents are very successful in business and their work ethic is second to none. Business is a roller coaster and I’ve watched them ride it with grace. My husband is extremely hardworking and has always said, "if you want something, you have to go and get it," and I’m immensely proud of who he is and has become. I want my two boys to remember that they can be ANYTHING and that they can do EVERYTHING.

4. Who would you consider a role model and why?
My parents are huge role models. They have always instilled in me a good work ethic and that nothing comes for free. You must work hard to achieve your dreams. They have been through ups and downs but remained a united front. They have climbed the mountain and deserve to stand on the top. I couldn’t be prouder of them and more grateful for the life they have given me.

5. The three words that describe me best are:
The three words that describe me best are DRIVEN, LOYAL, and COMMITTED.

6. If you had some sound advice to give to anyone what would‌ it be?
Stay true to yourself. Keep focused on your goal. Instead of thinking "I can’t do that," try thinking, "How can I do that?"

7. What does your life look like five years from now?
In five years' time, I will have helped 10 people in my whole organisation reach One-Star Director, so that they have that pledge for their loved ones. By doing this, I will have supported some of those who helped me secure a future for my boys, but also enable us as a family to live a comfortable life.
