The Leadership Spotlight Shines On: Sarah De Corday-Long

1. Where were you born and raised; current city; family hobbies; past business highlights.
I was born in Dubai and raised around the world in Saudi Arabia, Ascension Island, Macau and St Lucia before my parents returned to the UK when I was 16. My Mum was Danish and my Dad is English, so I have always wanted to learn more about different countries and cultures. I love to travel as much as I can. I have lived in London since University and have two children who are 11 and 13. I love this business as it has allowed me to show them so much more of the world, as I was fortunate to experience when I was a child. Alongside this, I have a Leadership Business where I assess and coach senior, corporate leaders, but coaching/helping my team within PlanNet gives me so much more joy!

2. How have you grown or personally developed since joining PlanNet?
Since joining PlanNet, I feel I definitely found a place that enables me to be more ME, by which I mean I have always been quite driven and positive but this business has amplified that for me and given me a place where I have stepped into my strengths. I love the fact that there is no expectation of you, but for once I am actually achieving more than I thought I could. My confidence has grown; I used to care too much about what people thought of me….now I don't. I always thought I hated sales, turns out I was always selling the wrong thing!

3. What drives you; what motivates you?
Helping other people change their lives. That is why I love this business. We are rewarded to do that and it still blows my mind!

4. Who would you consider a role model and why?
In the business Caroline Hamilton definitely - she is very inspiring but down to earth and shows us what we can all do if we put the work in. Calm and focused but warm and friendly. She is brilliant.

5. The three words that describe me best are:
Positive, energetic, and friendly. I was called a cheerleader by one of the team recently and that made me happy.

6. If you had some sound advice to give to anyone what would‌ it be?
Be coachable, see opportunities rather than risks and put your all in, you don’t want to regret what you didn’t do. Be proud of what we have at our fingertips and don’t hold back from sharing it with anyone and everyone, you have no idea how it can change their personal circumstances.

7. What does your  like five years from now?
In five years, I’d love to say I’ve helped at least 1,500 people grow in confidence, income, and ambition, with many stepping into Directorship themselves. Seeing people realise what they’re capable of is the most exciting part for me. And if I can celebrate that success while spending time at my own little place in Mallorca, ideally with a glass of rosé in the sun, even better!
